Many small businesses are overwhelmed with the onslaught of social media to-do’s, and often are lacking in real results for their time invested. At the end of the day, the most important thing to remember is that consistency is key!
Here are 4 ways to use social media effectively to help you maximize your time on social media.
Use a scheduling tool like Hootsuite or Later to schedule your posts. You might not have ten minutes every day; or you might not be able to be online at key times. See what time of day your posts receive the most interactions on various platforms, and try to schedule posts for those key dates and times. Having a schedule when you are actually live to answer questions online will also be helpful.
Don’t over post! Make your posts unique to Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter, and mix videos and interesting articles as your content whenever possible. Aim to make sure there isn’t too much self-promotion as well, and remember that your posts don’t have to relate to your business if they relate to your audience. Post content that your audience will care about and that they find engaging and interesting. Quality images that stand out, interesting content that evokes an emotion, and facts that speak to their interests will make them feel connected to you.
Interact & Engage
Do your best to engage with your audience. You work so hard to post relevant content and engaging posts, so when you have a comment or question posted, be sure to respond in a timely manner! It shows your audience that you are active online, and that you value the time they took to respond or post on your page.
Images & Videos Are Key
Photos and videos drive engagement on social media – so be sure to use this knowledge to your advantage! You don’t need a fancy camera or professional photography skills, just be sure to use relevant photos that relate to your content, your audience, and/or your brand and messaging.
