Whether you’re looking to recharge, refuel or relax, colour can play an important part in how your mind shifts into different gears. Here is a look at how different colours can bring different reactions in your daily life:
The colour of passion and drama. This colour attracts the most attention. It also brings strong emotions such as love and anger. Red is used universally to signify danger, courage, strength and power. It is a stimulating colour, and is vibrant and exciting.
The colour of encouragement. Orange conveys warmth, enthusiasm and excitement. Want to feel inspired? Orange is the colour that will keep you motivated and encouraged, the longest.
Yellow is the colour of optimism. It is a colour that conveys youthful, fresh energy. This colour of sunshine is uplifting and is associated with success and confidence. Yellow stimulates the left side of the brain, and helps with clear thinking and quick decision making. Yellow also grabs attention, because the eye sees yellow first.
The colour of sensitivity – the passion of red combined with the purity of white creates this colour, that is associated with love, tranquility and femininity. Pink is associated with tenderness and nurturing endearments, while conveying a sense of safety and vulnerability. It’s tranquil nature balances out our energies.
The colour of trust. Blue, the shade of the sea and sky, is a calm peaceful colour. It possesses enormous power to help elevate stress. It has soothing properties that help to calm your mind, slow down your heart rate and even lower your blood pressure. When choosing blue, go for softer shades, for a calming effect.
Green symbolizes nature. Green is one of the most comforting colours, which attracts harmonious feelings and help to diffuse anxiety. this harmonious effect helps us to stay calm and rejuvenated. When choosing green, the beige-greens to pale yellow-greens are the best for reducing stress.
Your mind is a powerful thing. When you were growing up, were you ever asked, “What is your favourite colour?” I am sure every person has been asked this question. My favourite colour was red as a child, but as I became an adult, my colour choice changed. Now, my favourite colour is purple.
Let’s explore four other colours of the spectrum that can have different effects:
The colour of spirituality. The energy of red and blue combine to create purple – a colour that inspires reflection and awareness. It is the colour of the sensitive, compassionate, intuitive soul – the introvert. Purple has long been associated with royalty and characteristics of quality and luxury.
The colour of the earth. Stability and a solid foundation is the message that emanates from the colour brown. This colour relates to things that are natural and simple. Brown is thought to be dull, but is reliable and wholesome. Brown is a colour of safety and quiet confidence, warm, yet reassuring.
The colour of compromise. Grey is considered to be an emotional, detached colour seeking to avoid attention. Very conservative, grey has a stabilizing effect as it is very neutral. Grey is linked with maturity and protection, being reliable and practical.
White symbolizes clarity and freshness. It is the right colour to be surrounded with in times of stress. White also represents youth and cleanliness. It is the colour of purity.
I want to leave you with the most relaxing colours to choose for a stress-free life:
