Founder / Visionary & Operations - Haven Sleep Co.
Scott is an experienced tech and e-commerce entrepreneur, business founder, and team leader. Years ago, Scott recognized a gap in the market: many folks were shopping online for bed in a box due to convenience, but very few brands were offering natural plant-based products in this category. Natural mattresses in traditional retail started at $3000, which was inaccessible for many Canadian shoppers. Haven was started as a plant-based, wellness company dedicated to “Better Sleep For All”. For every 10 mattresses sold, we pair a mattress to a charity partner.
While earning a degree in Communications and Marketing from Toronto Metropolitan University (previously known as Ryerson University), Mary Thompson worked in the restaurant industry as a server and bartender. This experience gave her an appreciation of food and wine, along with interesting insights into the industry and customer behaviours, including the negative behaviour that could sometimes result from overconsumption of alcohol.
To better manage her own hectic lifestyle and lead a health-focused lifestyle, Mary made the conscious decision to minimize her alcohol consumption and has enjoyed discovering the wide range of newly developed non-alcoholic beverages that help make people feel more included.
Mary grew up in Burlington and lives in Toronto. She is currently working on achieving the Wine and Spirits Education Trust Level 1 and 2 certifications. With over four years of experience in a senior marketing role in the Consumer Services sector, Mary now works as the Marketing Director for Clearsips.
