Daphne Williamson discovered her passion for social justice advocacy at a very young age and, at about the age of 16, became actively involved in community work with socially, politically and economically marginalized people, which ultimately led her to pursue a legal education.
Upon graduating from Dalhousie Law School (now Schulich School of Law) in 2005, Daphne received the law school’s Community Commitment Award in recognition of her community work and advocacy. She then articled with the late Burnley “Rocky” Jones, a well-known civil rights and social justice lawyer who she worked closely with for several years, even after opening her own practice in 2006.
While in law school Daphne also co-founded the Cornerstone Legal Outreach Service, a legal information and outreach clinic for disadvantaged people, and became the Speaker and public spokesperson for the Confederacy of Nova Scotia Metis (CNSM), as it then was, on Aboriginal rights and identity issues affecting these communities as well as her own, the Nova Scotia Wampanoag. Daphne has continued to work with her community and others as a lawyer, advocate and spokesperson since that time.
Her primary areas of practice are Aboriginal rights and identity issues and Charter and Human Rights, although she has worked in other areas of law over the years, much of which has been on behalf of low-income clients. In 2009, Daphne became the specialist in Human rights, poverty law and social housing administration for Ontario Legal Aid clinics and won a precedent-setting decision before leaving that position in 2010 to return to private practice. She has been involved in several high profile and controversial cases and has appeared before various courts and tribunals as well as other federal and provincial bodies, including Senate and Parliamentary Committees, as a lawyer, consultant, mediation lead, Elder and advocate.

Founder / Visionary & Operations - Haven Sleep Co.
Scott is an experienced tech and e-commerce entrepreneur, business founder, and team leader. Years ago, Scott recognized a gap in the market: many folks were shopping online for bed in a box due to convenience, but very few brands were offering natural plant-based products in this category. Natural mattresses in traditional retail started at $3000, which was inaccessible for many Canadian shoppers. Haven was started as a plant-based, wellness company dedicated to “Better Sleep For All”. For every 10 mattresses sold, we pair a mattress to a charity partner.
